Thank you for your feedback / Harvest Assembly

I would like to thank everyone for all the nice comments about the site. I'm very happy you are enjoying it!

Next friday we will be performing the Harvest Assembly so there will be lots of practice going on in class during the week. I have put lines in the children's book bags and I would be very grateful if you could help your child learn them off.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend and with any luck I'll get a chance to upload some information and pictures of our preparations as the week progresses.

Play Date

In R.E. this term we are looking at the topic "Invitations". We decided that it would be nice if the children in 1D and 1L got to know each other better. To do this we wrote invitations. Each child in 1D invited a child from 1L to a play date (and vice-versa). We saw some great examples of sharing and friendships being make. To make it easy for the children in 1L to find their way around the 1D classroom, we labelled everything in the class.

Captions and Magnets

Today was a great day in 1D. We ventured into the playground for our literacy lesson (armed with clipboards). Each child chose an object to label, they then drew a picture and wrote a caption underneath. It was nice to get some fresh air and learn at the same time!

In the afternoon we looked at magnets. We had lots of different types including bar magnets, horse-shoe magnets and wand magnets. We discovered how they attracted and repeled each other. We also looked at surfaces which they would stick to. Some children were able to carry objects and even open the art rack using magnets.

We also earned our excellence and enjoyment time this week. Well done 1D.

Yesterday we were all playing with the toys in the outside area.
We got pictures taken so that we could create labels and captions in our literacy work today.

Rough, smooth, shiny and dull.

Today we had a very active Science Lesson in which we sorted materials according to whether they were shiny, smooth, rough or dull.

It was excellent fun and the children worked great in their groups.

Number Bonds Display

We have now finished our "Numbers in Love" display which will assist children in remembering their number bonds to 10.

The children have produced amazing work. The collage hearts are brilliant and the writing for the sums looks fanstastic.

Commotion in the ocean

Some children were reading "Commotion in the Ocean" today and acting out various parts together. In this photo, they were pretending to be the crabs in the story by walking sideways. Well done boys!!!
